After selling house last year (nothing to do with being in trust deed) i was able to stop payments and now 8 months later i have received a Form 5 and a letter saying my trustee will be taking steps to discharge themselves.

What does this mean? Does that mean it's all over? Can i start rebuilding my credit score again?

Also...after having look on here at what people do after they've finished...what is a credit building credit card? I don;t really want a credit card again, is there any other way to build your credit up again. How do you even get a credit card when you have a bad credit history, i wouldn;t have thought anybody would give you one.

Once you have your form 5 then you are indeed discharged and can start rebuilding. Congratulations ff36.

There are cards where you have to put month ey o to them first before you can use them, so really more of a debit card. The crucial thing though is that using one counts as using a credit card on your credit file, which can apparently help to rebuild your credit rating.

Hi FF36

Great feeling isn't it to be finished and debt free. [:D]

I know you don't want a credit card, but I have a capital one card with a £200 credit limit on it which I know I can pay off each month. I basically use it to buy £30-£50 worth of food shopping (for example) each month. The fear still lives inside when it comes to credit cards [;)]

Also I have a mobile phone contract which also helps your credit rating.

I know other forum members have joint catalogues and those also help.

Good Luck!

Hi FF36,

Well done on successfully completing your Trust Deed and becoming debt free.

Now that you have received your From 5 it is all over for you. You can look to the future and put the Trust Deed behind you.

Unfortunately the best way to try and rebuild your credit rating as quickly as you can is to obtain credit. As NES has advised try and secure a credit card with a small balance. Use this every month and pay the balance back and it will show as a positive. Try to build up from there but obviously ensuring that you are careful with the borrowing. I think the likes of Aqua and Vanquis will lend to people with a poor credit rating. Might be a good idea to look on the moneysavingexpert website regarding this.
