Hi

I have a PTD and am needing a new laptop. Am I able to buy a laptop on a finance agreement. Like x amount per month or buy now pay later???

Or because I have a Trust Deed does this count as credit and therefore I am not able to get one?

Thanks

Hello dave1983,

There are two sides to the answer to your question:

1 - You may find it difficult to obtain credit as the Trust Deed will have affected your credit rating. You will be expected to inform the potential lender of the trust deed.

2 - The maximum amount of credit you can obtain will be ?รบ250.

If there is a pressing need for the laptop (for example it's required for work and you cannot earn income without it) I'd suggest that you speak with your Trustee to find a solution.

Hi dave1983,

There is technically nothing to stop you taking credit whilst in a trust deed, if the finance company is willing to give it to you, and actually there is no maximum amount. The only problems you might have are:

1) Getting the credit agreed in the first place
2) Being able to afford the repayments

We usually advise people to avoid credit whilst in a trust deed because of nr 2 above, there is the risk you will struggle to pay everything and it could mean you run into difficulties with your trust deed and end up bankrupt!
