Ok, so 1 more payment at the end of the month and I've completed my 36!!!! Yay!

Here's my question, what then?!! Do I just cancel my standing order? Do I contact my TD firm?

I took the TD out in Dec 2007, and apart from a letter in Dec 2008 asking for payslips and statements, I've never, ever heard from them again. This has been fine with me, but I thought there would have been informatoon forthcoming on how we close all of this off.

Anyone any ideas?

Btw - great site and has been a great comfort to me since I found it. Well done!!

Hi Duckypoo (great name)

probably best if you cancel it and advise the Trustee. By the sounds of it, your file may be on a shelf somewhere and its always safer in your control.

Congratulations on approaching the end of your Trust Deed DuckyPoo. You must be pleased and relieved?

Like Mark, I think that you should contact the trust deed company and run through with them what will happen next. It should only take a few weeks to bring everything to a conclusion.

Perfect! Thank you both.

I did contact my IP (4 letters based in Glasgow)in Dec 2009 to say, 'Hey, amd I not meant to hear from you guys for a review every Dec?'.

Someone took my details and I never heard from them again.

The firm have been great, but I wonder if that would been the case if they were in regular contact. I can only draw my conclusions on how they close it out I guess.

What I would say is that teh PTD was needed for me, otherwise life would never have got back on track. When it's right, it's right! I really love what you guys do on this forum, and if anyone has any questions for someone who made it out the other side I'll be happy to answer - I'll still be checking in!

Thanks again!

Thank you for the kind words DuckyPoo.

I'm really glad to hear that you are happy with the choices that you made regarding a trust deed and the company that you chose.

It would be really appreciated by other visitors as well if you are able to share your experiences from time to time after having "come out the other side".

I don't know how yours is set up but with mine I can't touch that monthly payment. It is out of my control, seems it's only the IP that can do that.

It's a Standing Order, Wull. I can cancel it at my will - as you could for a direct debit, recurring transfer, etc.

Hi Wull,

Do you have a bank account provided by the trust deed company itself (or a connected company)?

There has been feedback in the forum before where posters have commented on control issues connected to such accounts.

It's Think Banking and WA, they have control of that one payment. Not that I'm grumbling, I did agree to it so fair enough.

So long as you're happy with it all Wull.

Other readers should be aware of the potential pitfalls of bank accounts sold by certain debt solution providers that are connected to a trust deed or debt management plan.

The problems reported in this forum previously surround the debt solution provider taking the monthly payment from the account even when they have been asked not to.

Obviously it's important to keep up with agreed payments. However if there is a temporary income drop or unusual expense it's clear that spending on essentials like mortgage/rent or food must be more important than the debt solution payment.

As of this Friday, I will have 8 payments left. To be honest, I thought the time would really drag but in actual fact it has flown by. Seems like only yesterday I was signing the forms and waiting anxiously for it to become protected.

Once the final payment has been made (June 2011), I intend to contact my trustee to confirm they are satisfied that all of my obligations towards the Trust Deed have now been met, and that the standing order can be cancelled.

One question I do have for the experts....assuming I have indeed met all of my obligations, does the trustee have any right to ask that I continue making payments? I don't think this will happen, but I would rather ask the question on a "what if" basis now, than wait until the situation arises and it is stressing me out....!

Hi imcville

Only if you are the Euromillions winner!

Don't worry, I'm sure it will be fine. In the Trust Deed your part of the deal has been met, so it should hopefully be very smooth.

I've not contacted Euromillions about my winning ticket as am not sure how my IP will react, do you think they may ask me to pay my debt off in full.... Also I think his office will miss my calls about Barclays phoning me.......

Not sure if I should claim my ?รบ113 million prize.......
