Not sure if this is the correct forum but hoping someone could advise.

My son had applied for credit and was refused and they told him that a trust deed existed against his name. He has the same name as me but obviously a different DOB and is not in a trust deed. I had been keeping the trust deed info from the kids but Experian have given him all the information of my trust deed including creditors and the details of my Trustee. They have also sent him a letter asking me to provide details of the deed and to sign and send rhe letter back

Should Experian be providing my son with this information and should there be a need for me to contact them? I appreciate this is only loosely associatrd to the Trust deed and if anyone could point me in the right direction I would be grateful

One would have thought that by passing your financial details to anyone without your permission would be infringing the Data Protection Act....

Hi Spider

I am not an expert on credit files, but this must have been very akward for you. I can understand why your son was mistaken for you, but I would have thought experian would have required some kind of info, such as date of birth, before they supplied such detailed information. I would contact experian about it, and at the same time ask for your credit files to be disassociatd to prevent you son being refused credit again, and to stop him getting further details on you.
Good luck

Hello Spider.

This does seem very unfortunate.

I think the least you are owed is Experian correcting their records quickly and a full apology.
