Hi guys.

I've posted here a few times over the years. Just wanted to say thanks for the help.
I have now officially been discharged from my Scottish TD. Got my form 5 and discharge letter the other week. It was a bit of an odd end to TD but this explanation may help others. I made last payment May 1st and was told could take 2-4 months to complete discharge process. I was then ported from pinnacle to CD company inbetween time and informed discharge could take longer now. The weird part was I got a little inpatient and decided to contact CD customer services two weeks ago, got hold of an email address of one of their lead service people and literally within an hour I was emailed my discharge and form 5. Very odd. I have since had the paper copy in post. It's shows my official end date as May time. Shows its worth chasing it up with them.
I have now taken the forum advice and have successfully applied for two credit building cards with low limits and signed up for loq box too. Again to help build credit score. I have also signed up to the main credit agencies Inc Experia so can check score which is already on "fair". Im not sure there is anything else I can do at the moment but am still getting max recovery letters through the door re what I'm owing certain previous accounts..
Thanks again. Always grateful.

Congratulations Trojan38.

It must be a great relief to move on from the trust deed now?

Regards the credit cards there are a couple of things to bear in mind. As well as being very expensive, building up balances on those cards could negatively affect your credit score. That’s because other lenders might question whether you can afford additional credit. Secondly, when you can you’ll want to switch them to being more mainstream cards. Having high cost credit cards could raise a red flag for other lenders in the future.

The Max Recovery letters obviously don’t pose any threat to you. If you’d like them to stop then posting them a copy of your Form 5 might help.

Thanks Kevin. Very pleased now indeed. Lot of positive things happening moving forward and you guys have been great. I appreciate your help at various stages. Helped alleviate a lot of anxieties. My partner's TD completed and discharged now this month too so together now we have around an extra £730 per month together. What a difference that makes. Has taught me a lot about finances and definitely a valuable lesson. Think I may have become a financial wizard from this and perhaps can use what I have learned to help others!?

Hi Trojan38,

Congratulations on the successful completion of your Trust Deed and also your partners.

A good idea to take out some credit to start the rebuilding process and some good advice from TDA on this.

We often hear from people at the end of the process that the find they are able to manage their finances a lot better as they haven’t had credit to fall back on during the Trust Deed.

Having a spare £730 per month now will sure make a difference and I hope some celebratory drinks are planned and maybe a nice treat for you both. Relaxing holiday would be my choice if I were you both.

Good luck for the future and enjoy being debt free.
