I received word from David tannock last night that the third party payment to complete my agreed payments has been accepted. It will take 3-4 weeks to be completed and discharge will be about then. I cannot thank David enough for his understanding, prompt replies to my concerns and non condemning attitude. My own fault for ending up in the position I was in but he didn't make me feel bad, he was supportive and allowed me to see that actually there is light at the end of a very dark tunnel. In my circumstances i had to hit rock bottom before I could crawl back up again. Today nearly 2.5 years on I feel stronger, attitude has changed and I'm only 3-4 weeks away from starting my new improved life. I would urge anyone finding their finances difficult to contact David. He uses plain English that anyone can understand and doesn't use jargon words that only someone in the know would use. I cannot thank him enough for helping me get to this point which a few years ago I would have said was utterly impossible.

That's great Nearlyover - it must be a huge relief to reach the very final stages of your trust deed.

It sounds like David (plus his colleagues) and, most importantly, you have done a great job in bringing this all to a conclusion.

Such a great post Nearlyover. The emotion is evident throughout.
Good luck in finalizing everything and for the future.

In my experience, all the Experts including TDA who post here are courteous, supportive, helpful and patient - and non judgemental.

Good to know that they 'walk the talk' too :-).

Very much so firewalker. Thank you tda. This Christmas could be the best one ever. The weight that this has lifted is immense. Even since the start of the process and pretty much as soon as it went protected life changed for the better. Not saying it was easy but in comparison to what it could have been.... I'm just so grateful to David and indeed this forum for all the advice/ support and information. It's absolutely invaluable.

Hi Nearlyover,

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with everyone and for your positive feedback on the service that you have received from me as your relationship manager and also Wylie Bisset.

I can still remember our initial discussions at the start of the process and your nervousness regarding the protection of your case! I'm glad I've been able to play a part in helping you back up from rock bottom and to help you become debt free within 3 years. Like Firewalker has said, the emotion of your post is evident throughout and it's posts like this than can help someone take what is sometimes the hardest step to ask for advice and help.

You will receive your Form 5 discharge certificate in the next couple of weeks!

Thank you David. I am so excited I could cry - happy tears this time though. The time since I first spoke to you has flown past. Just shows that folk shouldn't suffer in silence. They should seek help and David would definitely be my recommendation. I will be watching the post every day lol. But if you feel like emailing me to say that it's through please feel free to do so David lol. Thank you again

That's such a good point Nearlyover.

All of the evidence suggests that people typically wait many months, sometimes years, before seeking help with a debt problem. The stresses and strains brought about by this can be enormous on the individual and sometimes on those around them also.

Getting some advice needn't cost much time nor any money. Often just knowing what the options are can help people to see some light at the end of the tunnel and relax a little, even if they're not quite ready to go ahead at that point in time.

This is often the case at this time in the year in particular. Major financial decisions (of all types) are often left until after Christmas - which is utterly understandable. However, I do wonder if some people might enjoy the holiday period a little more if they knew they'd at least started the process of getting a plan in place to address their debts.
