Looking for a wee but of advice. Im two years into a 4 yr TD and I've been offered an amazing job overseas. TD company have said I can go. My problem is my house. Can I rent it out whilst I am living overseas -just to cover the mortgage?

Hi n1kk1 and welcome.

You can rent your house out.

The associated income and expenditure will be reviewed, along with your circumstances overseas, to work out what you can reasonably afford to continue paying to your creditors via the trust deed.

Thanks for that. Another thought, I'll need to buy a car for work overseas, when I sell my car here will I be allowed to keep the proceeds to allow me to buy a car when I move?

That's one to run by your trustee.

Hopefully not an issue though.

How much is your current vehicle worth?

Definitely one to run by your trustee in that case.

As the car is worth more than £3,000 part of the value might be seen as an asset that should be realised for the benefit of your creditors.

As long as you can justify it to your trustee then I don't see why it should be a problem, n1kk1. Well done on landing the job offer. Somewhere nice?

Hi n1kk1,

Well done on the new job! Somewhere warm and sunny?

As others have said there shouldn't be a problem with renting out your property. As you will have a change in financial circumstances a review of your income and expenditure would take place once you are settled in your new job and have an idea of costs etc.

With regards to your car, was this included in your Trust Deed and treated as an asset for which you would pay any extra payments for etc?
