Its now almost 6 weeks since I signed my TD, and during the last week I have had several letters from various creditors.
When I have phoned them to explain the situation, they say there are no records on any of their systems about my TD...is this normal??
Cahoot asked me for a payment, even after I told them I was in a TD,
American Express sent me out a new credit card today, RBS are referring me to their in-house debt collection agency as they have no records...... and as for Barclaycard, can anybody explain to me why their Indian call centre staff all have fake American accents??
Hello amorphous,
A lot of these companies use agents to deal with the trust deed companies on their behalf. A breakdown of communication between the agent and the original lender could easily result in their file not being updated.
You are paying fees to your trust deed company and are therefore entitled to their help to assist in bring debt collection activity to a conclusion. I'd have thought that a couple of faxes from them to the creditors should be able to bring this to an end pretty soon.
In terms of your question about Barclaycard callcentre workers in India with American accents I don't really know what to say!
thanks TDA,
I have referred all of the callers to my TDC anyway....I just thought it was a bit strange that so many companies hadn't got the message yet though!
On a lighter note, its a pleasure to speak with these people on the phone now, knowing they can't hassle me for money anymore.
After years of stress every time the phone rings, its a positive joy to answer it straight away, and tell them that its out of my hands now.
It was a few months after my Trust Deed became Protected that most of my creditors stopped contacting me, apart from Barclays who hopefully have taken the hint that am in a PTD.......
You've done the right thing in just forwarding the correspondence and reporting the calls to your Trustee, make them earn their fees.....
Amorphous
Congratulations on your PTD, myself too. I must be fortunate as I`ve had no contact from my creditors in the last couple of weeks though the firms you mention have no interest in me. To be honest I dont miss the telephone calls and if they did call I would take charge of the conversation, I hope that doesn`t sound too smug. Hopefully its only 150 weeks till I`m discharged and a big Thank You to Mark, Kevin and TDA ( the new Miss Marple ) for their advice and guidance. I`ll keep `popping in ` to this wonderful site and support people when I feel its relevant.

Congratulations to both Amorphous & Sherbo on your TDs becoming protected. I cant believe that it was a year ago this month that Mark (TD expert from this site) came to visit me to go through the process of start own my TD. He told me that it will fly in, he wasn't wrong.
I was at least 6 weeks after signing before my creditors stopped sending letters, this was helped by passing them onto my TD.
Hi mazda 5
Oh! I feel old!
You're right, I can't believe that was a year ago. Hopefully the next 2 will fly in.
Regards
Mark
