Hi all

I completed my trust deed and was discharged in November 2011. To date the trustee has still remained in office - my TD was with Grant Thornton. I have contacted them on several occasions and been told that
"We are currently finalising the payment of dividends to your creditors.
Once this has been completed the Trustee will seek his discharge"

Is this usual, and if not is there anything I can do to push the situation?

Hi Craig

In a word, no. If you signed after April 2008, the discharge is not dependant on the payment of a dividend etc and they can discharge you without this. Paying a dividend takes little to no time if all the claims are in and certainly not 14 months!

Thanks Mark - I signed March 2008 - does this make a big difference? What would you suggest I do to move things forward?

I finished my payments in Jan 2012, got my form 5 in February, trustee gave a date in July for his discharge, complete muck up with PPI in August and I'm still waiting. Have been told it's been passed to closures, there's been IT issues, there's been tax issues, someone's been off sick and that it took a while to get the dividend sorted out and cashed (must have been all of 50p by the time fees were taken). The way I look at it now is I've co-operated fully, I don't have to pay anymore so I'm angry but over it now. I'll keep emailing once a week for an update but there's really nothing else I can do.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Hi Duncra

Yes, but only slightly. I think a firm who has not engathered and agreed all claims in nearly 5 years has a problem. The post April 2008 is ceratinly a lot easier.

Best advise is hassle the firm advising that 14 months for a discharge is unacceptable.

Thanks Mark for the advice. I have e-mailed Grant Thornton this afternoon asking reasons as to why it has taken so long, despite being sent my discharge letter in Nov 11, and I have tidied up my Credit file, and sitting at a score of 987, so not bad going! I will let you know GT's response.
