Hi,
I am desperately looking to sell my house. I have paid my final payment 4 weeks ago but still haven’t received my discharge letter. My trustee ( knightsbridge ) have said it could be upto 6 months before i receive my discharge. Would my trustee still be entitled to half of any equity from the sale of my house as it is in joint names ? if so, is there anyway around this apart from waiting for possibly 6 months on my discharge letter ?
thanks

Hi weemeee.

I'd urge you not to sell you home until you have been formally discharged. Your share of the equity certainly could be at risk.

If there's a particularly pressing reason why you wish to sell you home, I'd suggest communicating that to your trustee and asking them to prioritise the processing of your discharge.

I agree weemeee, unless the trustee has abandoned their interest in the property, your share of equity could be put at risk.

Hopefully they are just under-promising and will over-deliver when it comes to the timescale for your discharge, weemeee, as there shouldn't usually be any reason for it to take so long.
