Morning,

I've been watching from the sidelines for years and have found the advice and help on here extremely brilliant but I am now looking for some advice of my own.

I made my last payment to my TD at the end of January and I noticed on the register of insolvencies this morning that my debtor discharge date is the 08/02/2017.

Can someone tell me what usually happens now and what I should expect??

Does it mean because my discharge has been registered with He aib that I'm free of my debt or do I need to wait for the trustee discharge??

Any help would be brilliant

Thanks again

G

Hi GordonC and welcome to posting on the forum for the first time.

If there is a debtor discharge date on the Register of Insolvencies then let me be the first to congratulate you on successfully completing your Trust Deed and becoming debt free. A good way to start 2017.

You should receive your Form 5 (Certificate of Discharge) in the post in the next couple of days. You donโ€™t need to wait on the Trustee to be discharged, the relevant part for you is your own discharge.

How have you found the whole Trust Deed process, is it something which you would recommend to other people who may be struggling with debts?

I hope there is a little celebration planned this weekend.

Congratulations GordonC - and good to see that you have been discharged from your Trust Deed without any undue delay following your last contribution payment.

Obviously I don't know how much you were paying each month, but hopefully you will now feel the benefit of being debt free and having that bit more spare in your own pocket.
