A friend of mine has recently completed his obligations towards his Trust Deed, and is now waiting on the trustee discharging him.
He has been told by the trustee that he will be issued with a letter stating that he has fulfilled his obligations and that as far as they are concerned, he is discharged. Upon asking whether this was an "official" letter of discharge however, he was advised that he would need to contact the Accountant in Bankruptcy to obtain such a document.
He is a little confused by this, and is wondering whether this is worth pursuing, or whether the letter he receives from the trustee will be sufficient.
Any comments or advice from the experts would be welcome. I myself am very interested to know the answer, as I am with the same trustee and will probably find myself in the same position six months from now.
Hi imcville
There is a formal letter ( certificate) of discharge from the AIB, but only in sequestration. There is a cost of around ?รบ20.
No formal letter or certificate exists as such in Trust Deeds, so I think the letter from the Trustee will be sufficient, as the AIB' s will provide nothing the Trustee's can't.
