Hi

Now I have been discharged from my trust deed, I am now starting to clear up my credit file.

I see some companies have marked a £0 balance next to some accounts, even though they are still defaulted. Other companies have the account marked default with the full balance . eg. £6000 for the balance. I know they will remain defaulted for a while, but what should the balance now read? £0 or £6000 . please advise 🙂

Hi sjm750.

I believe that once you're discharged they should be set to zero.

This reflects the reality of the situation; no money is owed now.

Hi

I have read that records will drop off 6 years after the default is registered and that the defaults should be registered on or around the date of the trust deed being signed.

I am currently 2 years through my trust deed with 1 more year to go. One year into my trust deed my house was repossessed. Since then the house was sold on and the balance has fallen into my trust deed. My credit file is showing a date of default for when the house was repossessed, which is a whole year after I signed my trust deed. Could / should I be asking for this date to be put back to when I originally signed?

Thanks !

xxx

Hi Thinkingofthefuture.

This seems like a very finely balanced situation. I can think of a number of good arguments why either date should apply.

You may wish to take the matter up with the Information Commissioner's Office so that they can make an adjudication of sorts.

It's probably a bit on the early side, but I was wondering if there was any results on the credit repair thing from a few weeks back.
