Hi there, hope everyone is well?
I have a question…. I’m just about to paid my last payment of my trust deed on the 1st of may and I was wonder roughly how long should it take for my defaulted accounts fall of my credit report?? I understand that my trust deed will still show for another 2 years.

Many thanks

David Day

They should disappear 6 years from the date of default, Bdoor20, though should be updated to show as settled/satisfied once you are discharged from the Trust Deed.

Hi Bdoor20.

Were any of the default notices issued on dates significantly after your trust deed began?

Yes, some are nearly a year after the date of the trust deed started!!! What does the mean, as I started in April 18 and some are defaulted in January 19?

They should be aligned with the date you entered the Trust Deed, as that was technically the default event. It should be possible to get those dates amended so that the entries will fall off your credit file sooner.

Hi Bdoor20,

As Kevin has indicated, you can contact these creditors to request that they backdate the default notices to the start of your trust deed. If they don't do this you can make a complaint to them. If they still don't do it you can take the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

This will result in your default notices fallping off your credit file at roughly the same time as your trust deed, meaning that your credit record becomes cleaner sooner.

There's a couple of sections in this article that go into this in a bit more detail:

Thanks very much for all your helpful information, you guys are awesome. I’m gonna wait until I have my discharge letter then I can start contacting them to get the correct dates.
