How long should it take to be discharged? Final payment made Dec 2011. I understand PPI claims delayed things til about March, also my original Trustee is no longer with the firm (was not informed at time). I have been told it can take many months but hey, this is October 2012.

As long as you signed after the change in the regulations in 1st April 2008 then there is nothing to stop your trustee discharging you once you have completed your obligations and then they can remain in office until they have tied up any loose ends in respect of PPI etc.

May be worth challenging them about this - though I understand there a re some firms who will not do so for some reason.

Thanks Kevin. Yes, it was November 2008. Having searched more of the site info, I see discharge would normally be within a month or two, so I will query this with my trustees. When my trustee left the firm I understand another took over. Would I not normally be informed of this formally?

Hi nicoll406.

I'd have thought you might have been notified, however I cannot imagine that at any point you were left in limbo without a trustee. Someone will have been responsible for your case whether you were notified or not.

I do hope that you're able to now encourage a prompt discharge, which seems well-deserved after meeting all of your commitments.

During our TD our contact/case person changed twice only found out when it came to review time, where the letter was signed by a different person. Suppose its like most work places staff come and go, other wise ours has been v.good discharged one week after paying final payment.
Sorry about the delay in your discharge hopefully won't be too long now and would challenge them about discharging you before PPI is finalized.

Completed 3yr TD Sept '12 discharged Sept '12. Trustee discharged Jan '13
