Hi jojo93.

The first step is to contact your Money Adviser. They'll run through the detail with you and advise you of any potential consequences.

My understanding is that the Administrator makes the decision, but part of such a decision could be the view of your creditors.

This isn't something I handle day to day though, so one of our other experts may correct me or expand on the subject further.

Hi Jojo93,

Sorry to hear about the change in circumstances and the reduction in your husbands income.

Couple of questions for you:

1. How much is your DAS payment at the moment?

2. How much do you need to reduce the payment by?

3. How long was your DAS over?

4. Who set up your DAS to begin with?

An application is made to the DAS Administrator will will take all factors into consideration before deciding on the approval of the variation and if it is fair and reasonable. Creditor views are taken into consideration.

Hi jojo

There were changes to DAS at the beginning of November, and I'm still getting my head round them!

But I think the way it will work is that your creditors will be told about the changes you want to make to your payments and asked to say if they agree or not (that's not new).

If they don't answer within three weeks that counts as 'deemed' agreement. (That's new)

If all your creditors agree - and that includes 'deemed' agreement - the variation gets approved. (That's new)

If any of your creditors reject the variation then the DAS Administrator will decide.

As always, perfectly summed up by candlewick.

Is your husband's pay cut permanent, jojo93? If just temporary then a payment break may be more appropriate. You can potentially get a break of up to 6 months, which should have less chance of objections than a permanent variation.
