Delighted to say that our DAS has ended, and we are debt free, what a relief. [:)]
Thank You.
The hardest part was admitting we had a real debt problem, once we did and sought help it was straight forward. We had one issue a few years back when we need cash to replace our boiler,we managed to scrape through this, this highlighted that putting some money aside each month if you can will help in emergencies. It took us 7 years but the time has passed quickly. This arrangement was best for us. Our credit rating is poor now and we'll need to try and rebuild this, Barclay-card have given us a credit card , and we will use this VERY wisely I don't ever want to be in that situation again
Well done Paddy !!

Hi Paddy99,
Well done on successfully completing the DAS and becoming debt free.
I think for most people it's accepting that there is a problem and that you need help to deal with it. Once people do that there are plenty of organisations out there to help.
Have you found yourself better at managing money and budgeting now that you have been through the DAS?
It will take time to build the credit rating back up. The main way to do this is to use credit and repay it back on time and avoid the interest payments. If you do that it will help your credit report/rating. Try and use the Barclaycard as much as you can for things like fuel costs, shopping etc but make sure you clear the balance each month.
All the best for the future, enjoy being debt free and having the extra money per month. As Kevin has said some treats hopefully and a little celebration.

Thanks for all the lovely comments.
We are budgeting much better and are able to save money each month in a credit union, this comes directly out of my salary and is great for saving for holidays/ larger items, also we will continue to pay what we were paying to the DAS into this.
I have set up a DD for the Barclay card which will pay the full amount each month.
And maybe a glass or two of fizz ๐
Definitely a glass or two of fizz!
