Hi there.

As mentioned on a couple of recent threads we are looking at ways to create access to credit reports for members and visitors of the site.

We'd really appreciate feedback from anyone who has signed up to a credit report membership service, tried to get a ยฃ2 statutory report, taken out a free trial etc.

Could you tell us who you have used and your experience of using them, positive and negative?

I will be making our last small td payment this week and will get the credit reports as soon as discharge comes. Up to now all I have done is used annual credit report online. Very easy service and accurate info. Think its a ยฃ5 a year but you can pay more for a premium service. I am waiting for my noodle invite!

Thanks Paul.

Which firm did you use?

Hoping some other members might share their own experiences as well if they had a minute spare...

i'm not sure if my ten pence to the subject may help as i haven't sent for a credit report for a while.

But i used to send for the ยฃ2 one every year just to keep an eye on my credit report. All i simply did was write a small letter to experian along with my name address, dob, and the dates i lived at my address and sent it along with a 2 pound postal order to the address and within few week i recieved it in the post. Your credit report is like a report card of your credit history. Every debt you have had (Even closed accounts over a period of so many years will show on this )and will show your payment history to every creditor. It will list also noted defaults and such and give u information to each creditor (Ie: name, address, contact number and so on). I usually found if i recieved a credit report from experian if i found any problems or information had not been updated correctly. With the report there is usually a page where it gave's you option to contact them to have notes placed on the file (Ie: if u have defaulted a creditor but since then paid them off through a debt managment plan or other) you could write to them explaining this along with companies name and dates, they would then verify this with the company and add it to your file. So future credit check's show these notes. I'm not sure if they have changed the routine on how this is done now but i do know they do still allow notes to be added to credit files.

I had to do this many years ago because vodaphone did not update my credit file properly and showed i still had a open and outstanding account on a contract mobile phone i once had. I wrote to experian who then asked me for permisson to contact vodaphone to confirm this. I recieved letter a month later saying vodaphone had confirmed that my account had been paid off and was closed and it was updated along with a note on my credit file.

Your credit file will also show anyone you are finacially linked with (Ie: if you have a joint bank account) I know this because me and my dad were once finacially linked when years ago we went for a mortgage together but never actually followed through because my father became ill. But it still always showed a financial link on my credit report. I asked for this to be removed by writing a letter too which you can do. As i felt since we never went ahead with the mortgage it didnt need to be there and sure enough it was removed.

So in all sending for a 2 pound report in my eyes is well worth it and can help you get all the information you need.

I have a friend who once said to me to try noodles for a free credit report, she says thought because they are small company they can't provide a full credit report but they can give u the basics of what your credit report consisted but she did say the negative side of it was u have to sign in regular or your account is cancelled after a period.

Hi Reidy1982.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experience on this; it's much appreciated.

Any other feedback from other members about credit reference agencies they have accessed would be very valuable...

hi I subscribed to credit expert and used to be 6.99 per month but then it went up to 14.99 a month as they said some protection insurance was added on. I could get my full report and monthly updates on line so easy to use and allowed me to see if a creditor was updating correctly. i highlighted santander was always 3 months or so behind so credit expert chase them and get it corrected as part of your monthly fee. was good but expensive. dont use any more because of cost

Thank you trustdeedquery. Your feedback is both useful and appreciated.

Anyone else got any thoughts about their experience with this that they could share with us?

Hi all i recently requested my credit report from experian, and i received it within 3 days, i found to my dismay that 4 of my defaults had not been corrected since my discharge on oct/2010.

Iv'e had to do alot of phoning about and sending of documents to various creditors to get these updated, I would recommend that anyone coming out of a trust deed should get there credit report as soon as they're discharged and check that the creditors have updated it.
The response i've been getting is that alot of the debt is "sold on" to another party and that these people dont update the credit report leaving defaults on that should be off.
Its also worth checking the dates of default as it will be 6 years from that date that it will drop off your record.
hope this helps someone.
regards bj71.

I just used noodle(call credit),to get my credit report online within 10 minutes. Very well laid out report, score of 1/5 meaning I am a slightly better prospect than a bankrupt fraudster who just ate his mothers goldfish.

You have to register your interest 1st and then wait for them to get back to you when they have an opening available for you to join, took about 10 days for them to let me in.

The site also shows various loans which may be available to me(aye right!!!! They dont tell you how likely you are to be successful and most were with high street lenders so I am guessing that part of the site isnt very good).

There is also a part of the site that has lots of vouchers for meals, days out,etc etc.

Decent and free,so that will do me for now.

BJ71 what is shown on your defaulted accounts regarding settled or satisfied etc? I am wondering what most creditors do to mark accounts after a trust deed.

Hi plasticdaft, i was only talking about the creditors that didn't mark my accounts settled or satisfied, approx half of my accounts were settled.
The ones that weren't settled was the ones i chased up myself as i knew they were included in my TD.
When i asked the question on why they weren't settled i was told the debt had been "sold on" to another party, i think some of these 3rd parties are not carrying out their obligation to update the credit reports, which is a joke really as it must be part of their conditions to do so.
I shouldn't have to contact them to update my records, but i'm afraid this is what's happening.
I wouldv'e expected my IP to supply the creditors with discharge letters etc, and to be honest they probaly have but alot of these guys have been dragging their heels.
So i wiil say again to check your credit report probaly 6 months after your discharge.

regards BJ71.

Hi bj71.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Insolvency practitioners don't make reports to credit reference agencies, so you're doing the right thing working on this yourself.

So BJ71 should the accounts show up as settled then or do some show up as part satisfied after the trust deed is concluded??

Hi all, its pretty black and white in my experience at the end of my TD i had 4 creditors that had marked "settled" on it, and i also had 4 that still had default showing with high numbers on the "status history", like e.g. 666666 or 333333 or 88888, where as the "settled" accounts had for e.g. 0000000.
I'm thinking that zero's are good and 3's 6's and 8's are not(lol)..
To be honest a lot of my defaults are in 2007 so i'm told that they will disappear next year (6 years)and hopefully my dark period will be over for good.
One other thing is i've had a vanquish credit card for 6 mths and i think this is a good thing as i can only get credit for things i will defo have to pay back the next month due to the crazy APR,this teaches you not to over extend and and i believe now i am in control of my credit/debt situation.

thanks for the feedback and any other questions you want to ask
DONT BE SHY LOL!!!!!!

regards BJ71.
