Hi lewpy.

Some creditors might have updated your file, others maybe not.

The first step is to review your current credit file for accuracy.

How do you check your credit report? Is it a website? Do you need to pay for it?

There are three main credit reference agencies FF36.

They collate information that's reported to them by the financial services industry. They also make that information available to individuals.

The three are Experian (often advertised as "CreditExpert"), Equifax and CallCredit.

You can write to them to get a statutory report for £2.

They also each offer more functional online access, though at a cost.

I think they all offer a free trial of their online services which are made quite widely available.

When we looked into it we felt that CreditExpert was likely to be the most accurate, complete and up-to-date and therefore the most functional of these options.

There's a free trial available via the link below (and on thousands of other websites!):

Hi Lewpy"

You can register free on Noodle (call credit) it is only updated once a month but is very accurate and free. Experian is also worth checking as it holds very good source of information on contacting creditors, not the most accurate on score! Register free and then cancel after first month.

Good luck.

thanks TomThumb
im already on noddle but thanks for the advice...don't have much faith in them to be honest as they dont have me on the electoral register!
unfortunately i took out the free trials with experian equifax etc before i was discharged and so have lost out on the free trials now!can't bring myself to pay the £15 a month just now so will try and contact the creditors first. Can you cancel the membership at any time or are you tied in for a certain period?

Hi Lewpy,

I did the same and registered some time ago with Experian and equifax so was no longer eligible for the free trial.. You can pay The 14.95 for a new report then cancel, there us no tie in period. They try and sell you a reduction price to stay £5pm. I just cancelled mine.

You can buy the report for £2, there is no need to take out a subscription.
