Hi everyone.

Had a check on my credit report with Expirian as the 6 years since my trust deed started is about up.

Most of the accounts involved in the trust deed are showing as satisfied, though i had 3 with Nationwide which are still showing as defaulted. The query i have is that all 3 have different default dates, is this normal?

Thanks.

Hi ChrisMac and welcome to the forum.

They should be dated around the date the trust deed began.

If any are showing dates much after that point in time you're entitled to ask Nationwide to amend them back.

Hi, thanks for reply.

The trust deed shows on my report as being settled in July 2010, would that be 3 years from when it started? It's not massively over, they show October, November and December rather than July/August when i started.

Also, i was surprised to see my credit score showing as good(907) in Expirian. Do they ever make mistakes with these?

Ignore the score, its very gimmicky and counts for nought.

What will count in a positive way is good payment history, bePaulon electoral roll etc. Bad things like any defaults or insolvencies will all have a big negative impact.

Defaults dated over a month later than the Trust deed started must be adjusted by creditors back to when the td began.

The scores provided by credit reference agencies as "your credit score" are pretty arbitrary. They're just the CRA estimating what a lender might think about you. In reality lenders assign their own different scoring systems based upon your credit data, your application and anything else that they might already know about you.

My impression is that the CRAs underestimate how negatively real lenders typically view applicants that have been recently discharged from trust deeds.

However, lenders vary and we do hear here about people getting car finance, loans and mortgages in these same circumstances.

Basically, if you want to find out whether you'll get a particular new form of credit you'll only actually find out by applying.

Thanks again.

I am in the process of trying to get a credit card to help build credit, though they have delayed the answer. Hopefully this can help start things before the 6 years is actually up.

My noddle credit rating went up from 1/5 to 2/5 today. Not much of an improvement but britannica arrow are still showing up a loan with s £13k defaulted balance (sandra deane at gt, iva watch is now on the case so fixed soon).

Getting there slowly.
