Hi - I started my trust deed 6 years ago - Jan 2011 - it has been paid for around 18 months now.

When can I expect my credit file to update so that it is no longer on it?? Or do I need to personally contact all the creditors myself?

If so how do I go about doing this? Is there anyone who can provide me with details of who they are as as terrible as it sounds I don't know.

ANY help at all is really appreciated Thanks

Linsey

The entry on your credit file for the Trust Deed itself should disappear 6 years after it was first registered, so if it hasn't already gone then it should do so very soon.

In terms of your individual creditors, they should have updated your file when you were discharged. If the date of default was some time after your Trust Deed became protected then they would still be showing and you may need to contact the creditors involved to request that they amend the default date to coincide with the signing of the Trust Deed.

Have you got a copy of your credit report? This should help you identify any creditors that you may need to contact.

I am in the same boat here also.

But may I check Kevin if the creditors saying I defaulted/settled will fall off after 6 years also and is it 6 years from their reported default date or the end date?

Linsey, I had to contact one of my creditors via email and telephone over several months to get them to amend my file. To the point I had to put in an official complaint.
They are very reluctant to speak to you.
Keep note of all emails and calls so you can contact the ombudsman.

I've just been through this, mine all fell off in Feb.

It is 6 years from default date so you have to make sure this reflects the date of your TD.

My TD was removed from equifax about 2 weeks before the date I signed it. For Call credit and Experian it was the day after it was removed. This all happened automatically.

I had the same issue with my creditors. They have all gone now.

I asked Equifax and Experian to contact the Lenders as well to have the default date updated.

One of the Lenders didn't reply to myself or Experian so after 28 days, Experian del#8203;eted the info for me until they heard back from the lender.

In terms of contacting the Lenders, if you get a copy of your credit file (remember to check all 3 because not all credit accounts show on them all), then there is a section with names, addresses and phone numbers for the Lenders. I sent letters with a copy of my form 5. I also explained how this was adversely affecting me and asked for it to be removed asap. Some said it could take 6-8 weeks but they were updated within days.

As I said I also asked the credit file agencies to contact them as well as myself. For one really stubborn one, I had to say I was going to the Omsbudsman and it was updated within days ;-).

Good luck and keep persevering!
