Hi goneunder

What's it for? If you want a detailed report it looks like you will have to send the documents you have been asked for. However, if you just want an idea of your credit score you can get this at moneysupermarket if you go to the credit card section. This check is carried out by callcredit and the search doesn't impact your credit.

Hope this helps.

annual credit report allows you to check online but you really need to check the 3 credit reference companies as they can hold differing info, experian, equifax, and call credit.

Hi goneunder.

Credit reference agencies hold highly sensitive information about people so have to be careful in meeting their data protection obligations.

We have recently been talking to Experian about offering Trust-Deed.co.uk members and visitors a free trial of their CreditExpert online service.

There will be more about this on the site soon.

You might want to have a look at the CreditExpert website to see if it would suit your current need. I believe the other credit reference agencies offer similar online services and can often ID people electronically rather than needing documentation.

We never needed to send any docs for free trial with credit expert. Just be sure you note the dates for the end of the trial, it becomes very expensive afterwards. well, in my opinion, £15 or so monthly is too much for repeat emails.

The only problem I had with the online CreditExpert was that even after ticking the box for my details not to be passed on to 3rd parties, I was constantly bombarded with text messages, emails and phone calls offering IVA's, loans, credit cards and debt advice. That was before the rude conversation I had had with them to cancel my free trial where they wouldn't take no for an answer.

A lot of these free trials are like that, easy to get into and terrible to try and escape from!! Its sometimes impossible to even find a number to call to cancel things.

Thank you Pamjo, AlphaB and plasticdaft for the feedback.

I'll confirm that these things are on the list of subjects we are looking into before deciding finally whether to make that free trial available here.

One of my colleagues is about to sign-up to see what happens!

I got the free trial with Credit Expert then cancelled it after getting my first report without a problem. And, if you go through Top Cashback, you get £5.15 cashback. So YOU get paid to check your own credit report! You need to sign up with the cashback site but it's free. I've made £147 making purchases like car insurance B&C insurance etc. The beauty of this is you can get your cashback in Amazon vouchers so there is no cash going into the bank for your IP to question. Sneaky I know but there you go.
