Hi all, I am currently Bankrupt and finding it very expensive to get contents insurance.

Does anyone know of any insurance companies who don't charge ridiculous amounts for insurance.

Thank you.

Hi Mrsembarressed.

We've heard a few times from members that have found insurers that don't see personal insolvency as a reason to increase premiums.

Hopefully some of them will come forward and share their own successes in this respect with you soon.

Hi
I have my contents with Morethan Insurance, I scanned their policy summary for exclusions with regards to TDs, I found nothing and called their helpline and was assured it's not an issue.
My policy is a standard contents policy - cover of ยฃ75000, I always add on freezer foods, garden furniture, shed contents and accidental damage, all this costs me just under ยฃ14/month.
I find it quite infuriating that so many insurance companies behave the way they do, but I use Swinton for my car and Morethan for contents, both gave me excellent quotes and allow monthly payments without it costing the earth.
Good luck

Saabrina

Sorry I should have read your post correctly, I'm not sure what the situation is with bankruptcy, but with Morethan they had no exclusions when I took the policy out in January for any kind of insolvency.

I believe that Direct Line is quite good if you are bankrupt, one of the people I helped with bankruptcy used them. Give them a try, and let us know how you get on.

I still haven't been discharged despite paying all the contributions and assets over 12 months ago, however this post concerns me, none of the questions asked when i took out my contents, and car insurance asked about bankruptcy I'm sure I would have noticed, but is there any chance the policies have an exclusion they are both with Esure and I've had no problems paying them monthly.

Hi WIKIKEE.

I'd suggest checking the policy exclusions. No point in paying for cover if it doesn't cover you.
