I've been thinking for the last couple of weeks that a Trust Deed might be the answer to all my financial problems.

About a week and a half ago, I got a call from a company called Freedom Money Services. I arranged for them to call me back. After a few questions I was told I qualifed and was passed to someone else to go through income and expenditure. I was given a monthly payment figure for a 3 years TD and a reduced one for a 4 year TD. The next stage was a home visit, due to my location that isn't possible and a telephone appointment has been arranged for Tuesday evening.

I was a bit worried about the way the call went and today researched a bit more. I contacted Trust Deed Scotland, I've checked and they do have a consumer credit license no on the website. The advice I was given today was that the 1st company were just hitting me with a sales pitch. I was told that the process would take 6 to 13 weeks to set up and that my first 2 payments would be their fee. The man I spoke to today, told me that it takes 6 weeks. After I came off the phone, the paperwork came in the post. Alarm bells are ringing. They led me to believe the TD would be set up and they would keep the 1st 2 payments, what the paperwork says is that if I pay them £500 they will begin the process which should be complete in weeks, or 2 months at £250 then it will begin, hence the whole 6 - 13 weeks. In the paperwork it states that the fees over a 3 year period is £3600, thats more than a 1/3 of what they suggested I would be paying.

I've already decided that this is not a company I should go with, but wondered if anyone knew anything about Trust Deed Scotland, they have offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Saabrina,
I had contact with Trust Deed Scotland prior to my TD and they put me on to Carrington Dean who have been fine to be honest. Trust Deed Scotland seemed professional and very nice to deal with. Hope this helps.
"Due to your location, that isn't possible" who said that you or them? Do you need a special rocket or something to get to you. In my job I have to travel wherever and this also includes Libya!! Nowhere is impossible. If they said this then they dont deserve to run a business. Stay well away.

Hi Sabrina

Your thoughts are entirely correct. A Trust Deed can be set up very quickly. I have cases where the meeting was held on Monday, all matters confirmed in writing by Wednesday and signed Friday. Others take longer, however it is up you you to decide how quickly or how long it should take.
