Completed Trust Deed

I'm back again.

I completed and was discharged from my trust deed in May 2011.

Since then I have been checking my credit rating score etc every now and again to make sure everything is ok and under control.

Tonight I was checking it and I have discovered a company that was on my trust deed has been putting through a default to the value of approx ยฃ2,500 every month since late september.

This has had a big impact on my score and it has moved to a much lower level than when I completed my trust deed.

I am furious as I have worked very hard to get out of debt and rebuild my credit score and then this has happened.

The only credit I currently have is my mobile phone, no credit cards or anything (correctly) outstanding.

What would you suggest as the best way to tackle this?

Thank you in advance

Contact the data controller at the company thats defaulting you sending a copy of your discharge letter asking them to update their records and to stop defaulting you or you will complain via the information comissioners office. Send the letter by recorded delivery and keep a record of dates etc. If they continue to place incorrect data on your file visit the ico's website as there is lots of info on there.

What company is hindering your efforts?

Hi Gordon Marcus.

Some really good information from plasticdaft there.

There is an article on the site that you may wish to read. It will give you the background, what you can do, the role of the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), and what they expect of creditors in terms of the accuracy of what they report to credit reference agencies:

Something I am looking forward to attacking as soon as I am discharged is sorting out the default dates on my files. Other than that I am going for the times heals all approach!!

Hello, Thank you for the quick responses.

I called the two companies in question. I'll be sending them both letters today.

The first is Cabot Financial that were dealing with a Halifax debt, after having to explain what a trust deed was they said they'd get someone to call me back and an address to write to.

The second was O2, I was on the phone almost an hour. Nobody at O2 knew what a trust deed was and did not acknowledge the fact they were included in mine. After much explaining I got an address to write to.

I also contacted Wylie & Bisset who I got the trust deed through. I explained the situation and it was confirmed that both Cabot and O2 recieved payment at the end of my trust deed.

Hopefully the letters will do the trick, I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again.

They should get the message, and the trust deed will mess with your credit record for 6 years(from the date it became protected),so you have time on your side to get it sorted.
