Hello
I'm in a Trust Deed and have just started a new job as an Office Manager with a Limited Company in Scotland.
My Director now wishes me to become a signatory on the company bank account. I haven't told him I'm in a TD.
1. Would I be allowed to become a signatory. I don't want to be , but if he insists it could end up being very awkward as you can imagine. I don't think he has any intention of me signing cheques but wants me signed up?
2. Should I tell him I'm in a TD? I don't really want to for fear of dismissal.
3. Does a TD have any bearing on being able to access their bank account details online with the view of running reports and bank reconcilliation only?
4.How would the Bank of Scotland view this bearing in mind they are one of my creditors and also the company's bankers?
Help!
A response asap would really be appreciated.
Many thanks.
Hi peeps
In response to your questions;
1. Yes
2. I always think it's better to be up front, however it's your choice. I don't think there's any added risk with the Trust Deed and I'm sure neither will he.
3. No
4. I wouldn't imagine they would do a credit check for a signatory, but could be wrong. There's no real connection between your debt and the current issue.
Oh! and congratulations on the job.

Many thanks for your prompt reply, Mark
I was getting myself worked up and fearing the worst.
Thanks for your congrats, too. Yes, a real bonus in this day and age to secure a job let alone promotion!
Another query is that I'm not too impressed with my Trustee. I've had questions for them in the past,by email, which were on the best part, ignored.(Sent to 3 different administrators on several occasions. I checked and double checked email addresses with them over the phone). I have again emailed them of the new job with salary increase to two administrators on two occasions in the last 3 weeks once I had the job offer. No response. They may be inundated with work but surely that's not an excuse to put me to the very bottom of the pile. After all the Trustee does earn a fair bit for administering the TD.
I ended up with a black mark on the 1st annual review letter last time and none of the information I gave them was acknowledged or taken into account. (Long story...)
Very surprised with the Trustee as I particularly chose them due to their respected and impecable financial track record. But I'm certainly disillusioned with them. I don't want to be rocking boats too much....
I'm led to believe it's posssible to speak with an ombudsmen about this??
What do you suggest?
Thanks again,Mark. Your advice here on these forums is second to none, and am sure many members see you as a godsend.

Hi peeps1
There's no ombudsman as such. Normal route is writing to their authorising body, normally ICAS or the IPA. The threat of that tends to get things moving, although it should never come to that when all you're looking for is a response.
