This is the first time that i have used this site. My trust deed was protected in March. I had debts that had risen to over ?ú32k, and was extremely stressed and worried over the situation. This was taken out on my own and not with my partner. My partner and i are due to get married in October and i am worried that this will affect my circumstances into the return that is paid to the trust deed. As this was my debt, i am worried that she will be penailsed for this when we get married? Will this have any bearing effect?
Hi peds27, welcome to the site and congratulations on your forthcoming wedding.
Your contribution to your trust deed is regularly reviewed, so if your circumstances change then your contributions may too. For example, if you were previously living alone and now your wife will be moving in, then it may be that you can afford to pay more, if she is earning and you are now sharing the household bills. On the other hand, if you are already living together and your finances won't change once married then it should have no effect on your contributions.
As for any effect on her - if you have applied for any credit together then you will be "associated" on your credit files - but this is irrespective of whether you are married or not so may already be the case.
Hope this helps.
