Hi.
I currently have a bank account with a Building Society that don't offer a card that can be used abroad.
There is a possibility that I may have to go to India with work - is there any bank that I would be allowed to open an account with to allow me to use the card in India whilst I am in my trust deed.
I have been looking at thinkbanking which says they don't do any credit credits but costs ยฃ14.50 per month.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi HBH
There is nothing to stop you changing accounts. I think you may have to do a wee bit of investigative work to see which bank offers the best deal as it could prove expensive

Welcome to the trust deed forum HBH.
Our thoughts about good bank accounts during a trust deed are at:

I think you may have one of these accounts already?
You can change account, so it may be worth checking with some of the alternative options whether you will have any account functionality in India if you move to them.
If i could offer an alternative - a prepaid Mastercard can be used abroad. You just load it before you go and the functionality is the same as a Credit Card - pin number etc
Thanks to everyone for replying. . . Will look into the options available.
I tried to change accounts prior to my TD signing, as I was due a large percentage of my debt to my bank. As I had defaults against me from credit cards, I got a straight refusal from The Clydesdale Bank and RBS, even for a basic account. Eventually I went to Santander, who opened the an account the same day, with a basic debit card and allowed me to pay direct debits etc, the card can also be used abroad. Not sure how this would change once you had signed the TD.
