My husband has a trust deed that will finish in December, and his car is not an asset as it's old and knackered! My Dad recently gave me a small amount of money and it is enough for me to buy a used car myself, but this will be more than the ยฃ1000 limit. Is it okay for me to buy a car in my name seeing as the trust deed is in my husband's name? I am self employed and don't have a regular income, but it is enough for me to be able to run a second hand car that has been bought outright. Please could someone advise me?

Thank you.

Hi jojunipermoon.

Paul is correct, you can buy/own a car with money you've been given without there being any implications for your husband's trust deed.

Hi jojunipermoon,

As Paul and TDA have advised, the car is yours and will have no impact on your husband's Trust Deed so no need to worry.

Hopefully those final 5 payments pass quickly for you and you can then both move on with things.
