Hi
I have made my last payments to my PTD and am now awaiting discharge. I have read on here that I should now go about 'repairing' my credit rating. I have applied for a vanquis card and been accepted which I shall only use for fuel and clear each month. I note some members say getting a mobile phone contract is another good way so I applied for a contract mobile but was refused. does anyone know of any companies willing to offer a mobile phone contract as I do not want to apply for several and leave negative footprints on my credit file. i was going to wait until I had been finally discharged however as Vanquis gave me the credit card I thought it would be okay now.
Thanks

Hi outatlast, I completed my TD nearly 3 years ago and to rebuild my credit rating got a vanquis card, littlewoods catalogue and next account. I spaced my applications out so as I would not have too many footpronts on my file. I also succesfully got a car on HP and a mortagage last year.

Try a cheap contract with 3,they have less stringent credit checks.

My wife, who is not in a trust deed was refused a contract from Car Phone Warehouse. It seems that because we share the same address, she is financially linked to me. This has an adverse impact on her rating.
She got a better deal with Tesco mobile. This was a pay monthly sim only.

Hope this helps

Hi Bowershall.

Any link would normally stem from a joint financial arrangement rather than a shared address.

Hi TDA
Do you mean a shared bank account or mortgage?
