Hi, Is there any chance/ any point of building credit rating while on a trust deed? I have a cash card(cash plus) that offers to build my creit rating with time. Thanks in advance

I think we'll get different views on this one sigario.

No matter what your credit rating is, the trust deed will likely prevent mainstream lenders from lending to you until after your trust deed.

Will it be more likely that mainstream lenders will lend to you after the trust deed if you have done some work on your credit record already? Perhaps I suppose, but I'm unsure how much impact these types of credit building card actually have.

Maybe some of our members have experience in this area...

No point in paying cash plus to rebuild your credit rating until at least your discharge from the trust deed.

Hi i'm out of my T.D. 2 years now and i've not missed a payment on any of my credit,i still cannot get credit anywhere, i have spoken to my credit agencies and although most of my creditors are marked as satisfied on my report,i've been told that final clearance will be 6 years after my T.D. started....so its a long road i'm afraid.

Not an "expert" on Credit Reference Agencies and there actions but my understanding is that a record will remain on their system for 6 years.

Bj I am confused as you posted you cannot get any credit and also that you havent missed any credit payments? Maybe its coz its late and I have misread!!!

Trust deed and associated defaults remain on file for 6 years from date the trust deed is protected.

Hi,I had my TD protected in June10 and in June11 I was discharged.I applied for a credit card last week just to build up good credit and got it,but my mortgage deal is ending 1st June and they won't give me a new deal I have to go back on the SVR.I have to say for me a TD was the best thing ever, and without this site I don't think I would have got through it.Thanks to everyone that has helped me get where I am how.

Welcome to the forum lucygirl. I'm glad the site has been a help to you and congratulate you on completing your trust deed.

You probably know already, but the failure to offer you a new mortgage deal (and therefore put you onto the SVR) might well have nothing to do with the protected trust deed.

Some mortgage lenders offer new deals, some don't, and some vary their position on this from month to month according to their commercial priorities at the time.

Well done on completing your trust deed.
I'm interested as to why you werent keen to go to the SVR? Even poor SVR's are better than most fixed or tracker rates just now. Are you looking for an increase in mortgage which would explain no new deal?

Hi,I was looking for a five year fixed rate as I have a large mortgage due to borrowing when my credit cards were high then using them again to live on.(This was all before my TD)I just want to know what am paying out each month as I have heard lenders are going to be putting up their SVR .My TD has taught me one thing I will never borrow money again,I have taken out that credit card last week to build up good credit so that i hope I can once again get a good deal on my mortgage.

Hi lucygirl, I am nearly 3 years out of a TD and got a joint mortgage back in December 2011. Might it be worth trying a different mortgage company? Thanks
