It's bonus time of year again and I was wondering if anyone can help. My Trustee said at my initial interview that if I had a big expense coming up then I could use my bonus to pay for this and therefore keeping the bonus. Does anyone else have experience of this or know of a way around it?

Hi wr2406 and welcome.

I'm afraid that doesn't sound very familiar.

Best to contact your trustee ASAP to establish what (if anything potentially) you'll be allowed to keep from this bonus.

Still sounds unfamiliar I'm afraid.

Best to speak to your trustee so you know where you stand.

Any bonus should be declared to your trustee and would normally have to be paid over. If there is an exceptional issue where the funds are required for something else then he trustee may be willing to allow you to use the extra funds for that, though I think we are really only talking emergencies here, not just home improvements.
