I have read various post on a number of sites about how much an IP will take from a bonus payment after tax. Is it 50% or 100%? At what point is it considered to be a windfall payment £100? £1000? Is there any consistent approach or does it simply depend on the whim of the IP?

There is no guidance which provides for exact figures or percentages. This is why it is extremely important to have the position with bonuses, windfalls etc clarified before you sign anything.
