hi again

i was just wondering what would be the best creidt card to apply for to help repair my score after my trust deed is finished?

i currently have a repayment mortgage & contract mobile which iv had for years & never missed a payment on, but when i applied for a granit card they refused me. (obviously cause was still in my trust deed)

now that iv made my final 36th payment (10/5/12) can i apply for a card again?
i thought the granit card was ok cause it was high interest?
or do i have to wait till the nominal payment is paid also?
or do i have to get my credit report first to check everything is discharged?

just not sure the best & quickest way to repair my score.
will it be 6 years from the start of my trust deed before everything is ok again?

many thanks

martin

Hi there, I finished my trust deed on 2/10/11 & waited about 3-4 months before I applied for a granite card. I got accepted & also got a mobile phone contract from 3 network at the same time. Still to this day looking at my credit file some of my accounts are defaulting, I think the granite is as good as it gets for a while. My APR is 49%, but I opted to clear the balance off every month, my limit was only ยฃ250. I hope this helps.

thanks for the advice.

i thought the Granite was the best to apply for. i guess applying for it while i was still in my deed was a mistake.

i will try again then about 3 months after im discharged & pay balance in full every month.

cheers

martin

Some members have had success with the Vanquis card very soon after trust deeds martin.

Horrible interest rates but not a problem if you pay off the full balance on time each month.

Hi there, I finished my TD in September 2009. About a month after my TD ended I applied for and got a Vanquis credit card (PPI extortionate don't get it!). Also a year after TD ended I got a car on HPI (my old banger died and hadn't saved up enough to buy new car) and as of September last year appled and got approved for a mortgage with my bank RBS. Jan last year I managed to get a netter rate credit card also with my bank.

Write letters to your creditors if after you receive discharge letter they still show as defaulted - there are good templates on the moneysavingexpert forum. Also make sure the date you defaulted on all entries is the same date your TD started, otherwise it will not drop off your record at the right time (6 years after TD started).

A wee note, my TD and my defaults were off Equifax after 5 year and stayed on Experian for the 6 year (which is nearly up, yay).

Hi Plasticdaft, I had to get a brand new car to get finance (I know dumb eh) I was unable to get a loan to purchase a used vehicle! I went via a Ford garage and they arranged finance with Black Horse. I wasn't approved straight away, decision went back to underwriters and then approved - worth a note that I stated I lived with parents and have a decentish salary :c)
