Hi there,

I just wonder if someone can help me, I've just finished the first year of my trust deed and have started a new job, for which my new employer would like to set me up on the bank as a signatory so I can process invoices for them etc. They're aware of my trust deed as I disclosed it when they mentioned they'd like to set me up on the bank. My trustee advised me that being set up on the bank shouldn't be an issue, and in doing a little bit of research I could see people had been in similar situations and been added as a signatory to accounts without any problem.

We filled out the paperwork and sent off, waited the required amount of days and phoned the bank, and were informed that I have been refused as a signatory and the bank won't tell my employer why, stating that they don't have to tell us. I'm not really sure what to do now. Is this refusal because of my trust deed? What's confusing me more is that the bank sent out a separate form for me to fill out to my home to capture my signature, which I can see from my credit file was after they ran a credit check on me so presumably they already knew about my credit score and trust deed when sending out the form?

I'm worried that I won't be able to keep my job, and that I'll need to avoid this type of work until after my trust deed has cleared.

Any help or prior experience would be great!

I guess it is possible that they didn't actually examine your credit report until some time after they ran the credit check, or it got referred on to a decision-maker and hey carried on with the process of capturing your signature etc in the meantime?

Obviously we are just guessing, which is all we can do if the bank won't provide any details. It does surprise me that the Trust Deed is causing you a problem in this way but unless there is anything else that it might be then I guess we have to assume that the Trust Deed is indeed the issue.

I do hope everything works out OK with your employer.
