Hi,
Im looking for a bit of information on going bankrupt.
If I go bankrupt In Glasgow does it go into the local paper ie evening times,daily record.

Hi Tammi, no theres no advert in the papers and it doesnt even go to court now.

Normally the only ones who know about it are you, the trustee and your creditors.

Hello Tammi,

The information on bankruptcies and trust deeds is kept on a publicly available register so someone who actively went looking for the information would be able to find it.

However, as Mark has already written, there is no local advertising of the information which people you know are likely to stumble into without going looking for it.

Hi

Just want to say my husband and I were made bankrupt after our trust deed did not become protected. None of our family or friends are aware of this and I know that if they so wish this information is available but they would need to search for us to find out that information. 6 months on life is a lot more settled and less stressful and the phone calls and letters have stopped.
