That's my 3 years of being Bankrupt over and now have 2 years to pay my Equity , so in total 5 years , will I get a letter of discharge after 3 years or 5 years? Can't believe its already 3 years past [:)]
Hello graham.
Presumably you were notified of your discharge two years ago?
I'm sure your trustee will be happy to confirm when any income/equity obligations have been completed. That's a different thing from being discharged from the bankruptcy.
To be quite honest im not sure, if I received anything who would it be from ?
Hi Graham
The AIB can provide you with a Certificate of Discharge, but they will charge a fee for this.

Do I really need one at this point?, any idea how much it costs ?
Hi, I was also bankrupt and automatically discharged after 12 months, you can get a copy of the discharge certificate from AIB, it cost me £11, although you don't really need it, I am sure you can print your record off from the AIB website, that would be good enough proof of discharge should you need it.

Hi graham,
It's really up to you if you feel you would like an official discharge certificate.
As Juliet has pointed out on the Register of Insolvencies it has a section for ÔÇ£discharge DateÔÇØ which will show the date of your automatic discharge from the Sequestration. You could also use this as evidence that you have been discharged.
How have you found the whole Bankruptcy process graham?

We were with first step finance in a debt management plan which was a total joke, wish we had made ourselves bankrupt a lot sooner. On the whole being Bankrupt has been ok , at first theres a lot to take in and your review every 6 months you had to do, but that's almost 3 years past which has flown in. I think the word Bankrupt puts fear into people my self included, at least there is a set time to all this. This forum is very good for people just starting of in trust deeds, Bankruptcy etc and see how people are coping with this , roll on the next 2years to pay my equity of and a new dawn [:)]
Hi graham.
I'm glad that you feel positive about it.
When we advise enquirers about the option of bankruptcy there's often a very uncomfortable silence on the telephone for a few seconds afterwards.
For a lot of people the facts about bankruptcy are, in reality, nowhere near their perception of what it actually entails.
Hi graham,
For the majority of people Bankruptcy can be a very straight forward process but it's the word ÔÇ£BankruptcyÔÇØ that initially can really put people off from doing it. I've found that once I've sat down with someone and really discussed this in detail with them on exactly how the process works from start to finish the will often say it's not as bad as they first thought.
I'm sure the next two years will fly in and before you know it you will have finished your payments and can move on with things.
