My trust deed ended late last year. I still have two defaults showing on my credit file.
Does anyone have the contact details for the departments at Bank of Scotland and Barclaycard that I have to get in touch with to have this corrected?
It's starting to annoy me.

HI Fizban

Are you aware that the defaults will remain on your file for 6 years from the date of signing the Trust Deed? So depending on your date of signing it may well appear for a time yet.

Your objective is to ensure the default date is the same date (or very close to) as the date of signing the Trust Deed and it will fall off automatically at 6 years.

Since you know two are showing I assume you have a Credit Reference Agency account such as Experian, Equifax Noddle or Checkmyfile. You may find the addresses and telephone numbers within the details of the creditor (for example, checkmyfile gives name of company and address and telephone number for contact.

I may still have Bank of Scotland and Barclaycard information at home somewhere but not easily located just now since I am moving things around. I will have a look but please do not hold your breath. I would check your Credit Ref Agency and see what you can find there.

Perhaps another member will be able to give you more information.

Here's a little more information about default notices fizban, in case you hadn't seen it before:

There's no special department you need to go to. Some people have contacted data protection departments, but such queries can also be directed to customer services teams (via an enquiry, or a complaint).

Getting the default notices marked as "satisfied" or "partially satisfied" will be very important if your credit rating is important to you.

Thanks for the information guys.
Can I ask why two other credit cards I had at the start of my trust deed, are now marked as satisfied from a month after the end of my trust deed?

Hi Fizban

I wish credit file updating was as simple as it should be. Alas, usually not.

When the trust deed is completed, it is the lender/creditor who updates the credit file - at their own pace and sometimes with little understanding of the impact and requirements of accurate dates. Sometimes they need a push. The Trustee does not have anything to do with updating your credit file.

If you look at your Trust Deed record on your Credit Reference file, does it show a finish / settled date as well as the signed date?
I am fairly sure the AIB updates that record. You may want to copy / snip that part of your Credit Record and use it along with the Form 5.

Looks like two have updated the file and the date listed is the date they updated it.

When you write or contact them, ask them to update the Default date and also the Satisfied or Partially Satisfied date to match your form 5. Provide them with a copy highlighting the dates.

They may say to you that they add the date they were notified. However, you should reinforce that the correct dates according to the Data protection Act is the signing date and the discharge date.

In my own case, I did not receive my Form5 until 14 months after I made my final payment, so I did not concentrate on the discharge date. I focussed on the signing / default date seemed to be the most important since credit reference file and score does not change very much at all until the default falls off.

While it is frustrating, in retrospect and I only mean looking back, not how I felt at the time, it was not worth the worry. The default date is important though.

Good luck.

We seem to hear this a lot fizban.

Some organisations monitor insolvencies and make relatively prompt updates when people are discharged from insolvency.

Others, frankly, seem perfectly happy not to and leave themselves open to reporting incorrect information to the credit reference agencies.

The trust deed on my credit file states discharged and the date of December last year.
I'll write to them and give the remaining two a nudge, supplying the information suggested.
