TD discharge Sept 16, my husband wants to add me to his bank account to make it a joint account. Will my TD still being on file affect his credit rating if it is accepted?

Hi Lorryjo1983.

Do you already have any joint financial arrangements, for example a mortgage, another bank account, or any old joint loans?

No, we don't have anything joint at all.

Thank you.

Opening a new joint financial arrangement will likely create a "link" between your credit files.

Your husband's credit rating is an individual affair, so his credit rating will not change.

However, some potential lenders might follow the link to see who he is financially associated with.

This could potentially influence their willingness to lend (or the terms upon which they'll lend) if they don't like what they find.

I don't get the impression that every lender does this, but it's a factor worth considering before making a final decision.

Your own credit file will still show the Trust Deed, assuming it was signed less than 6 years ago. By opening a joint account then you will be likely to become linked to your husband's file as a financial associate. Indirectly therefore this could have an effect on his creditworthiness, depending on how fussy a lender might be.

In reality I doubt a completed Trust Deed for an associated person is going to cause much of an issue for him.
