Yes my trust deed was the best thing for me at the time but....
I got a new job after the one I went for fell through. The pay was a lot less (300 less a month) but I managed to survive for 8 months on this wage.
Went for an interview on Thursday - got the most amazing job with more money - so happy - now the application forms come through the post and yes, you have guess it - working for an investment company and here come the credit check forms! Obviously will fail these, have handed my notice in at my work and so now it looks as though I am jobless! I can't believe it! The agency I went through never mentioned this, the company never mentioned it so I am hoping with everything I have that failing the check won't stop my getting my new job.
Anyone had any experience with investment companies? I wasn't allowed to work for the bank due to my trust deed but is it the same as I'm not dealing with money - just typing!

It could be worth informing them of the trust deed now and hope they see it that you have taken steps to address your debts, and dont bother with the credit check. Its a tough one,you could also say nothing and pray but pretty sure the TD will get noticed so best to be up front.
Every silver lining has a cloud and all that!!!

A new dawn.
Hi there.
I do agree with Paul. I think the thing to do will be to proactively let the new employer know about the trust deed, let them know that your finances are now under control as a result of it, and point out that it hasn't stood in the way of performing well in your current role.
I am going to do that on Monday and am hoping against all hope that they will see it in a positive light. Been speaking to my partner and have basically prepared myself for the worst case and have no idea what I will do but as I'm not dealing with money I hope this will be ok. I will call the agency on Monday first thing and update you all. I would have told them about the TD if I thought credit checks would be required - hopefully they wont think that I have tried to pull the wool over their eyes!
Good luck neverending! I would have thought the checks would have been done before offer or appointment, I have went through similar recently, but have never given in my notice. Irony is you could get on top and pay more towards debt if you got job. You have nothing to loose by phoning monday. Wish you all the best...........

Hi Neverendingstory,
I moved job 2 years into my TD and work in a financial services company. I explained the situation to them and I was told not to worry. Hopefully this will not effect your job offer (just be up front and explain you had previous problems, but you have taken steps to correct this).
Best of luck.
Something that could assist is a letter from your Trustee confirming that you have co-operated and maintained your agreed contributions. This will show your new employer that you have voluntarily taken steps to deal with your debt and have so far met the obligations.
Best of luck.

Well it is a good day today!
The offer of employment is still valid - YAY!
They have thanked me for being so upfront about my TD, have asked for a brief written description of what happened and have apologised for not mentioning the credit check in the interview - which they will do going forward!
I am a HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY lady! Thanks for all your kind words of support. Bring on the vodka!
[:D]
Congratulations
Brilliant-and you can get on with impressing in your new job without worrying you withheld info. New Start!
Excellent news Neverendingstory.
Being honest and upfront so often seems to get a really positive reaction as we have regularly seen here in connection to employers and private landlords amongst others.
Good luck with the new job, and the lunchtime vodka!
Ahh the silver lining of the cloud has come back and bitten me in the ass!
So I've missed one payment of my TD, had last months reduced and have informed my IP that I cannot make this months payment as i'm not getting a full wage from previous job, have missed the cut off date for this job - therefore leaving me with a 6 week month. Have offered to make up the extra for the reduction - unfortunately a no. I need my wage to pay my rent etc and live for the next six weeks!
Therefore if I don't make this month's TD payment my IP is going to discharge himself as he doesn't think my TD is workable which it is now that I have secured better paid employment!
Joy - homeless and debts back - happy weekend me!
That seems extremely short sighted of your IP, Neverendingstory. Have they seen your job offer with new salary, start date etc? (I'm assuming so.) Is there anyone that can help you make this month's payment and you could pay them back when the six week period is over?
Good luck x
onwards and upwards!

Its possible that you have spoken to an overly enthuiastic case manager, ask to speak to your IP directly as I am sure the last thing they want is to fail the TD now, especially as things are on the up.
Many people get 3-6 months payments breaks(usually added on to the end of the TD),for various reasons so I dont see why your TD should fail at this stage.

Writing to the IP personally sounds a good idea.
In the circumstances it doesn't sound like it would be in the interests of anyone, importantly including your creditors, for the trust deed to be ended.
