I thought I'd have a go at applying for the big 3 of sub prime. Capital One and Aqua said no but Vanquis said yes. Was utterly shocked. That's me got a mobile contract and a card with a low limit on it. So starts the track to financial normality. Fingers crossed I'll be able to get a current account in the future.

Good for you Gillian and thank you for sharing the information.

A few people have written here over the years that Vanquis have been prepared to offer them low-limit credit cards very soon after discharge from their trust deeds.

I'd imagine the interest rate is pretty unpleasant?

Not a problem if you make the full payment on time every month though.

It's 39.9%. Not as bad as it could have been and they gave me a ยฃ500 limit. At least I know I can clear that in a month. The plan is to use it for petrol and pay it off on pay day.

'That's great' seems an odd way to look at huge interest rates but it's metter than pay day loans and used short term the interest rates won't be a problem.
Thanks for sharing!

The interest should never be added if you are careful and pay it off on time.

I may apply for one but really not than keen!!

May just wait 6 months then see how I feel about it. And see if the credit rating is on the up.
