Go to the Citizens advice....they should point you in the right direction!

Hello pete89,

The best known would be CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service) and the Citizens Advice Bureau.

You are right to say that many commercial operators have been critcised by the OFT recently for poor practice. There were also very many that were not. I appreciate that from the public point of view that this is very confusing as it is hard to assess which are which.

There are no charities providing Trust Deeds. If that were to turn out to be the best solution for you a charity may refer you to a Trust Deed company or you might choose one based on your own research.

A Trust Deed always has fees which are deducted from the contributions that you make (i.e. it is not returned to your creditors).

Hi pete89,

I've just noticed from your public profile that you might be based in London?

If so this website might not be the best place for you as it is focussed on Trust Deeds in particular and debt solutions in general in Scotland. The solutions in the rest of the UK are different.

Of course we're happy to try to help if you want us to.

Hi pete89,

That's interesting that you are weighing up an IVA versus a DMP.

In the last couple of days you have also registered on this forum as:

joe9 : who suggested to a poster here to approach CCCS
stephen10 : who provided some information on expenditure guidelines
john8 : who suggested a factfind be undertaken

And on a forum connected to this one you have registered as:

stephen88 : who warned a visitor about a potential fraud risk
peterm9 : who asked about good debt charities
john10 : who has experience of a voluntary surrender of property

In fact a quick Google search of your usernames reveals similar activity on a great many debt forums.

So before you provide any further advice to visitors to this website, and before you call on the time of the experts on this website again, would you mind telling us who you are?

Hi TDA

this is the very reason why honest people get so confused. The forum provided an opportunity for genuine people to ask a question and hopefully receive straightforward guidance on a subject on which they are unsure or have been previously mis informed. Simple.

It is maybe apparent who he/she/they work for, but why not just post ' I work for CCCS ( or whoever ) and in my experience..........'

Keep up the good work on firstly having the forum, but also spotting this nonsense.

Mark

Mark is not posting regularly in the Trust-deed.co.uk forum.

Thanks Mark.

I think that other explanations might also exist as to who would want to participate in this way but I guess we will never know for sure.

This has annoyed me a little primarily because the visitors to this site are entitled to read and participate in genuine discussion, and partly because all of the experts on the site fit their participation around their day jobs and private lives and it wastes their time if they are responding to false posts and questions (rather than the very genuine and pressing matters raised by our genuine visitors).

Still, (and as the results of the trust deed survey suggested!) we're on the internet and there's bound to be a little bit of the Wild West about it from time to time. Thankfully it's very easy to identify.

As Pete/Joe/Stephen/John hasn't come back to properly introduce him or herself I think we'll lock this topic now.

If anyone is curious type "Stephen88" debt forum into Google and you'll see he has been very busy indeed.

On a few other sites the members and administrators are starting to realise that all is not quite as it seems!
