This may sound ridiculous, but with only 2 payments to go I'm finding myself feeling increasingly nervous about when the TD is over. I admit I was a bit (slight understatement) of a shopaholic pre-TD & whilst we have had to budget for the past 3 years & I know lessons have been learned, I do worry that when we have so much more disposable income that I may find myself falling into these habits again.

Obviously getting credit isn't an option, but the fear of losing control again is at the back of my mind. Anyone get where I'm coming from?

Hi boys1211

I'm sure this is the 1st time a topic like this has came up to be honest.

I think 3 years is a long tiome to get used to a certain way of spending and the extra should be enjoyed. It's only an issue if it goes beyond what's there.

Hi boys1211,

I think in the past being a shopaholic and using credit facilities for this would have been the main problem. The ÔÇ£buy it now and pay it laterÔÇØ kind of thing.

After being in the Trust Deed for 3 years you will have learned how to budget and manage your finances better.

I don't think there is anything wrong with spending the extra surplus money you have per month on whatever you choose. This isn't credit but extra money that you can afford to spend on things.

Often we hear of people completing their Trust Deed and using the extra money to pay for a holiday or purchase something new in cash.

For some the temptation may always be there to use credit but as long as you are careful you should be fine.

If you can trust yourself, getting a Vanquis or Aqua credit card with a small limit MAY be a good idea to build up a credit history again. I did this and used it to buy a tank of fuel each month, always paying it off in full on statement day.

I've had it for nearly two years now.
