Another AIB Query

I was sequestrated and finished making payments earlier this year, I have not yet been discharged by the trustee, I have queried this and they have said that they have sent off the paperwork to the AIB for auditing, when I chased again I was told that the AIB failed to audit in the allotted time and had to apply to the Sheriff Court for an extension, which they are still waiting for.

Can any of the experts explain to me why this would happen and why the need to get the courts involved, surely they can just audit them and sign them off, or is it likely there could be a problem.

I know it really doesn't make any difference to me as I have been discharged but I would just like this to be over and it's been over 5 months now since my payments stopped !

Hi juliet

I'm not sure why they have told you this as it's wrong.

You are discharged automatically after one year, however the trustee needs to apply for his discharge. This should have no effect on you though.

Hi juliet.

It really doesn't make any difference to you. None as far as I can see.

I'd just let all of these folks get on with what they need to do and focus on the future. I appreciate that, in this case, that might be easier for me to say than for you to do though.

Thanks TDA & Mark, I know what you are saying but I just keep thinking that my name & details will disappear from AIB website 1 year after the trustee is discharged, which is what I am looking forward to.
