Hi
I wondered if anyone could help??

My husband has a trust deed which he set up 6 months before we got married. How does this deed affect me? Do I have to pay money towards it even though it is not my debt?

It is a worry as we have a little boy to care for and want to do the best for him.

Hope you can help

Amanda

Hi mandkenny.

The trust deed is a contract between your husband and the people he owes money to (his creditors) - you have no obligations under it and don't have to pay anything towards it.

I guess it will affect you, however, in so much as any spare income your husband earns will be being paid to his creditors through the trust deed. So presumably there is less money available for the household. If you are struggling to cover your living costs your husband could speak to his trustee about changing the arrangement if necessary.
