Hi
Hoping someone is able to help!
Currently in my second year of my trust deed. And 2 family members that stay in my house are looking to buy there own and I’ve been told that when they go for a mortgage they will be told that I am in a trust deed and that I will have to sign paperwork stating i have no financial ties to them. Is this correct? As both parties don’t know about my situation.

Any help would be great.

Unless you are financially linked to the two family members (joint loans or overdraft) then there is no reason for them being told you are subject to a protected trust deed.

Like Paul, from what you've written I've no idea at all why your family members would be made aware that you're in a trust deed.

Hi Helloyellow and welcome to the forum.

I can understand why you are feeling nervous about this and looking for reassurance. Last thing you want is family finding out about the Trust Deed if you are trying to keep this private.

Like Paul and TDA has advised if you have no linked accounts then there should be no reason for your two family members to run into difficulties.

Sometimes when there is a joint linked account or a family member i.e. father and son have the same name this can cause some problems but as long as nothing like that then it should be fine.

How have you found the first two years of the Trust Deed, is it something you would recommend to people struggling with debts?

Thanks for all the advice and information. It’s very much appreciated.
Been advised off others who have gone for a mortgage that due to them staying in a house with someone in a trust deed this flagged up on there mortgage application. So I hope this isn’t the case for me.

David for me the trust deed has been a life saver. As soon as I entered the trust deed and sorted out my incomings, outgoings. A massive weight had been lifted.

Really pleased to hear that your Trust Deed has made big difference to your life and financially helped you.

Often people are nervous about going down the route of a Trust Deed but if set up correctly it can be an excellent tool to deal with unmanageable debts and for people to regain control.

Here’s to a quick final two years. I look forward to seeing you back on telling us you are almost at the end and asking what’s next.
