Hi there, I just received a call from a Glasgow Trust deed company and I told them to take me of their call list as I had finish a trust deed with (firm name removed by Admin). He then informed me as it wasn't over 5 years(I am a home owner) I have been stung by them and the government are investigating them. I am still waiting on my discharge letter and the call has made me a bit concerned. Can anyone throw any light on this for me. Many thanks.

I'm not aware of any such investigation and I doubt you have anything to worry about, buster79. Might be worth a call to your Trustee to see what the hold-up is with your discharge though - how long since you finished your payments?

Cheers Kevin, my last payment was May and I got the usual it will take at least 6 months to complete. I then got another letter before Xmas saying,

I have enclosed the following documents for your information.
1. A copy of form 6 requesting my discharge as Trustee
2. A copy of the final receipts and payments accounts ending 13/08/2016
3. Your copy of form 5 - Letter of discharge of debtor.

Hi buster79.

Form 5 is your discharge. Congratulations om completing your trust deed.

I'm going to remove the name of the firm you've posted from this thread as the allegations made by the caller you've heard from are serious and quite possibly totally unjustified.

Like Kevin, I've heard nothing of the sort.

Many thanks, When I got the paperwork out there and started typing the penny fallped that the letter I have is the discharge letter. When I first read it I thought that was them applying for the discharge. Any idea why my name doesn't come up in the register of Insolvencies when I type my details in.

It should be on there - your details should disappear 12 months after your trustee is discharged.

Maybe try restricting your search to just your surname and then scrolling through the results?

Found it says debtor discharge date 02/11/2016. I feel a lot less stressed out now. I've got the phone number and name of the company that put me in a panic this afternoon. Why would someone say things like that. Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear you're feeling better buster79.

It's hard to know why people say these types of things. Ignorance and/or malice seem to be two possibilities. Unless they're in the possession of top secret news of internal government investigations of course, and they've decided to disseminate this news by cold-calling!!

The subject of people entering trust deeds while having equity in their properties is subject to a fair bit of industry debate at the moment though, so perhaps this comment has been driven by that.

Re RoI website, I can't gain access either. I had no problem until they updated their website a while ago (just over A year ago?) and now it won't accept any combination of my details, I've tried about 30 different combinations, now they want exact PTD start dates etc. It's a classic situation of updating websites which worked fine in the first place, just to keep some geek in A job[8D]

Hi charvel84,

I have no problems using the ROI website. I can search just with basic details such as a name or even just a postcode and it will bring up details of all cases providing it isn't longer than 1 year from the Trustees discharge.

You could always give the AIB a call about it and they could do a manual search or help you.

The less information you put in the better I find, as anything you put in that is just slightly incorrect will mean that your result won't come up. Sticking to surname or postcode as David suggests and scrolling through the results to find your own usually works.
