I opened my first savings account today. It's with the local credit union and I told them I was just out of a trust deed incase it would affect me opening an account. They said no so now I'm a member. My plan is that at the end of each month, whatever I have left in my account will be paid into my credit union book. It's also an incentive for me to be frugal. Hopefully that way I'll be able to save for either next years holiday or a car - nothing fantstic but it'd be the first one I bought without credit.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

That's fantastic gillian.

I think credit unions have a massive role to play in helping people to save, and also possibly to help people re-establish access to affordable credit (lent in a responsible way) over time after a trust deed.

I have transferred this months spare cash into a post office online saver account. Its taken 6 days for it to leave my current account and while its showing up in the post office its not down as part of the available balance. So its left one account but isnt in the other so where in the hell is it???

Never had these worries about savings when we didnt have a brass bean!!!!

Trust deed completed Jan 2012,Trustee discharge Nov 2012.

Great news gillian, defentley a step forward.

Paul sounds like it is just a delay in there systems just keep checking it and if you have any worries i would contact them if it has not cleared propely and the funds are still not avaliable into your post office savers account by monday. I found sometimes in the past money leaving one account can take little longer depending on where it's going to clear.
