Well, i can now finally see the finishing line on the horizon. On 1st July my final payment will go to the TD company and that will be me finished!

Couple of questions - is it advisable to try and secure a credit card with a small limit and what are the chances of being accepted, and how long until an official discharge comes through?

Hi tinsoldier

That's great news, congratulations! Just think that you will have extra money every month now to do with as you wish!

Your best bet is to try and open up a credit card where you need to pay money on to it in advance of using it. I'm pretty sure some of the forum members will be along shortly to recommend some that they have already used!

Ideally you should receive your discharge within 4 - 6 weeks of making your last payment, however it can sometimes take a wee bit longer.

Hi tinsoldier. Nearly there!

This thread contains an interesting idea that some members have used: http://www.trust-deed.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=960&SearchTerms=creditbuilder

If applying for a credit card I'd suggest you wait until the trust deed discharge comes through (should only be a few weeks for that to happen).

It will probably need to be one of the low-limit really high interest cards in the early days. That shouldn't be a problem if the balance is paid off in full promptly each month though. I don't specifically know of one that particularly favours applications soon after a trust deed, but other members or visitors may have suggestions for you that worked for them.

Is it advisable? That's probably a question only you can answer. We speak to people for whom establishing access to credit once again is very important. We also speak to people who never want to see a credit card again.

I know i've asked this before, but my contributions were lowered as i was placed on a four day week and at the same time my living expenses rose. I contacted the TD company who said there would be NO extension as i proved that the lower contribution was all i could affored (wage slips, bank statements etc).

But all i seem to hear is that i won't cover the agree amount - can someone put my mind at rest? I phoned TD company again today and they confirmed that i should cancel my SO on 1st July.....
