Hi,
I think already know the answer to this question,
Yesterday capital one sent me an application for a classic card with £1500 expenditure and states I am eligible, so what's the deal I assumed
could not take on credit,
If not allowed to take credit! is it possible to hold a credit card but with no expenditure! would this help credit score in the long run?.
P,s I still hold a Marbles card which I forgot about and has £5 in credit, is this doing any wrong by the trustee agreement.
Hi craig121598.
I'm assuming you're currently in a protected trust deed?
Capital One may have said you're eligible, but in the small print I'm sure it will say that it's subject to their normal checks. That probably means you will not be accepted if you apply.
Using credit and then sticking to the repayment terms might normally help your credit record in the long-term. I don't think it's going to help you much during a trust deed though. I also don't think there would be any benefit at all in having a line of credit available to you that you're not using.
Being in a trust deed doesn't stop you from using credit (though it will generally be a pretty bad idea to). You only needed to tell your trustee about debts that existed on the date that you signed your trust deed.
Hi craig121598
There was a post earlier on the use of credit, except it was for a catalogue.
In general there are no credit restrictions in the Trust Deed, other than as a result of your credit file ie it does not contravene the terms/legislation. There are restrictions in formal bankruptcy however.
I think TDA may be right however that the application may be a decision in principal, however this may fall at the later stage of the application as a result of the Trust Deed.
